National Grid is currently undertaking “The North West Coastal Connections Project” which seeks to generate new energy projects for homes and businesses in Cumbria and Lancashire. New power sources are being built that connect to the existing transmission network in the North West. A 3.4 GW nuclear power station will be built near Sellafield in West Cumbria. New connections will be built called “route corridors” that link to Moorside. Links offshore across the Irish Sea and Morecambe Bay are also being explored. National Grid would like the general public to register their details on “The North West Coastal Connections Project” website and take part in the online consultation.
