Message from the Chair
Hello All,
Firstly, I would like to say a massive thank you to Caroline Salthouse for her dedication to the NWCF, from its beginnings back in 2000, to becoming a registered charity in 2024. Caroline’s commitment to and knowledge of the North West coast is truly inspirational and we are so pleased Caroline will remain with the forum as a trustee and our Treasurer.
After a busy year in 2025, with the ‘Coastal Habitat Restoration and Creation event in North West England 2025: Exploring progress and potential’ event having taken place in Carlisle in March and the North West Marine Ecosystems (NWME) Conference in Lancaster in June, you may have noticed the website has been refreshed, including the new Data Hub and an area for projects. We would encourage you to please reach out to us with information of any relevant projects you are involved with we could include here.
At the NWME conference we announced the launch of our Community of Practice (CoP) thematic groups allowing for knowledge and research exchange across our network, further fostering collaboration and cooperation in the North West. For those of you who were unable to attend the conference in Lancaster I would like to invite you to join one of more of our COP thematic groups.
The next NWME Conference will be held in Liverpool in June 2026, and we look forward to seeing you there, or at one of our other events happening this year. Please do keep an eye on our newsletters or events page for more information.
I look forward to working with you all in the future to promote a healthy, sustainable and prosperous North West Coast.
Hannah Jones
