Volunteers are needed to help test the proposed Bay Cycle Way route in September. Cyclists can join for all or part of the ride around Morecambe Bay which takes place over 4 days fropm 12th to 15th September.
The Bay Cycle Way, funded through the Coastal Communities Fund, will be a new, family-friendly, long distance (200km) cycle route created by connecting and improving routes and signage around Morecambe Bay. It will run fromWalney in the north to Glasson (near Lancaster) in the south and will be suitable for entry-level touring cyclists. It will promote sustainable tourism and access to key heritage sites around the Bay by providing low or no traffic routes. The aim is to launch the new route in summer 2015. Morecambe Bay Partnership are working closley in partnership with Sustrans to develop the Bay Cycle Way and are now at a point to start testing the indicative route to iron out any issues arising.
