3 New Offshore Wind Energy Schemes in the Irish Sea Announced

The Crown Estate has announced that Offshore Wind Leasing Round 4 Agreements for Lease signing concluded in January 2023. Three of the six leases agreed are in the Irish Sea (the others being in the North Sea). The combined capacity of the 6 is around 8 GW being produced by the end of the decade. This could power more than 7  million homes.

The three projects in the Irish Sea are located off the North Wales (Mona), Lancashire (Morecambe) and Cumbria / Isle of Man coast (Morgan):

Mona: a Consortium of EnBW and BP, 1500 MW capacity
Morecambe: Morecambe Offshore Windfarm Ltd – a joint venture between Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios, S.A. (Cobra) and Flotation Energy Ltd., 480 MW capacity
Morgan: a Consortium of EnBW and BP, 1500 MW capacity
