England’s first marine plans formally adopted

The marine plans for East inshore and offshore areas have been formally adopted by the Secretary of State for the Environment, Owen Paterson.

Covering the area of English coast and marine waters from Flamborough Head in Yorkshire to Felixstowe in East Anglia, the marine plans are intended to inform and guide decisions on the sustainable development and use of marine and coastal areas.

The plans, together with a range of accompanying documents, are available to download from the MMO website.

It is anticipated that the remaining marine plans for all English waters will be in place by 2021.

The 2nd of April also marks the launch of the MMO Blog where a number of guest bloggers will be giving their views on marine planning. The MMO also has a twitter feed @The_MMO and you can join the conversation using  #marineplanning
