The Maritime and Coastguard Agency is consulting on the draft Merchant Shipping (Prevention of Air Pollution from Ships) and Motor Fuel (Composition and Content)(Amendment) Regulations 2014 implementing EU Directive 2012/33/EU on the sulphur content of marine fuel.
They are seeking views from industry on the Government’s proposals for implementing EU Directive 2012/33/EU which amends a previous measure (Directive 1999/32/EC) to align it with the revised Annex VI (Prevention of Air Pollution from Ships) of the International Convention for the Prevention of Marine Pollution (MARPOL) which was adopted internationally in 2008. This Convention imposed stricter limits than those found in the earlier EU legislation.
