Press release: Threatened species set for major funding boost
A total of £90 million will be invested in species recovery across England to support the protection and restoration of threatened species. Over the next three years, £60 million will be allocated to the Species Recovery Programme, administered by Natural England, while a further £30 million will support species recovery initiatives across the national forest estate.
The following five species are among the first expected to benefit from this funding:
- Turtle Dove
- Diamond-backed spider
- Red-billed chough
- Eurasian oystercatcher
- Glutinous snail
