What is Natural Capital?
Natural Capital is a measure of the stocks of nature. It is a measure of the value nature and its associated benefits provide.

Natural Capital Projects
Natural Capital projects in the North West include:
- Local Investment in Natural Capital (LINC)
This focuses on 4 pilot projects – including one project based in Northumberland, Cumberland Westmorland and Furness (Borderlands).

- The Solway Coast and Marine Pilot Project (SCAMP)
This is a marine natural capital project based in the Solway. Their focus is on seagrass, saltmarsh and oyster restoration.

This outlines the natural capital assets found in the North West region, as well as an assessment of their associated benefits.

This report presents a baseline of the natural capital accounts for Cumbria.
