We are Recruiting – Call for Trustees of the North West Coastal Forum

The North West Coastal Forum – established in May 2000 as a multi-sector non-profit partnership – is setting out on a new journey as a registered charity (Charitable Incorporated Organisation). We have been established as a charity for just over a year and have recently taken on a full time member of staff to oversee the day to day operations of the charity.

To help our new charity grow we are looking for Trustees with a range of skills to help shape the NWCF’s future. These are voluntary, non-renumerated roles.

As the only regional coastal partnership in England the Forum has a long-established reputation for excellence. The Board of Trustees sets the direction of the work of the Forum and works with the Forum’s Expert Advisory Committee (EAC) which provides advice on this. The EAC is made up of a range of different organisations including statutory bodies, NGOs and the private sector, so this is an exciting opportunity to work alongside dedicated professionals from a range of sectors with an interest in the coast and its communities.

The Trustees will oversee the management and general administration of the charity. As noted above day to day operation is managed by the newly appointed North West Coastal Coordinator who reports to the Trustees and to the wider Expert Advisory Committee.

As well as being Board members there are key roles for Trustees to consider taking on including include Secretary, Treasurer and Chair (the Chair of the Forum is an elected position). Trustees (and the Chair) are elected into post at the AGM which will be taking place on 6th March 2025 and serve a 3 year term.

We are looking for people with one or more of the following experience and skills:

  1. Charity administration / management
  2. Financial management (cash flow, budgeting, audit)
  3. Human Resources
  4. Business planning
  5. Project management
  6. Funding applications
  7. Communications
  8. Committee procedures
  9. Partnership working across private, public and charitable sectors
  10. Coastal management

If you are interested in becoming a Trustee please contact the NWCF Acting Chair, Caroline Salthouse, on [email protected]. Caroline will contact you to set up an informal discussion and guide you through the application process.
