Event information:

At the inaugural conference of the Irish Sea Maritime Forum held in Belfast in June 2012 stakeholders suggested that an Irish Sea Issues and Opportunities discussion paper would be a useful early output for the Forum which could inform the direction of future Forum activities and forthcoming maritime planning in the region. This stakeholder workshop will provide the basis of a draft discussion paper which will then go out for wider stakeholder consultation and feed into the publication of a final report in May next year. The event is open to all with an interest in the Irish Sea.

The workshop will focus on the following themes: Fishing; Marine Energy; Ports and Shipping; Tourism and Recreation; and Environment.  In order to stimulate discussion, the day starts with a series of presentations from a key stakeholder in each field setting out the issues and opportunities in the Irish Sea from their perspective.  This will be followed by a series of thematic roundtable discussions which will explore the ideas presented from different stakeholder perspectives. Delegates will have an opportunity to select and contribute to three different themes during these discussions.
