Message from the Chair

My name is Caroline Salthouse and I am currently an inaugural Trustee (1 of 3) and the acting Chair of the North West Coastal Forum.

I’m a Chartered Environmentalist, a full member of IEMA and have been coordinating the Forum’s work since 2003 – since 2017 on a mostly voluntary basis. The North West Coastal Forum role was the most interesting job I ever had – endlessly broad and endlessly fascinating,  which is why I agreed to continue coordinating it after we ran out of salary funding back in 2017. The coastal world I’ve been working in is full of some wonderful and committed people, all working to achieve more sustainable outcomes for the coastal communities and natural environment of the North West and further afield.

Recently we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to turn the NWCF into a charity with the hope that this will help us be in a position to employ an officer and build our activity levels to what they need to be. It’s an exciting new chapter in our voyage and I am really looking forward to seeing the NWCF grow.

We will be holding Trustee elections and electing a Chair at the first general meeting of the new charity so I am acting Chair only while we get the nuts and bolts of the charity established ready for the first general meeting, but I will remain involved with NWCF in some capacity – as I said it’s endlessly broad and endlessly fascinating!
