Closed – North West Coast Connections – formal consultation

Closes 5 p.m. on Friday 6th January 2017.

National Grid has launced a 10 week consultation on the detailed proposals for the North West Coast Connections (NWCC) project. This is a formal consultation required under sections 42 and 47 of the Planning Act 2008 and is likely to be the final consultation held before National Grid apply for consent.

The NWCC project is about providing a new connection to enable electricity that will be generated by Moorside, the new nuclear power station NuGen is proposing to build near Sellafield in west Cumbria to feed into National Grid infrastructure.

The consultation gives people the opportunity to influence the design of the new high voltage connection that is needed.

Detailed consultation documents, technical reports, maps and plans are available to view on the NWCC project website, along with a Statement of Community Consultation (SoCC).

People registering their contact details on the website will be able to access the online feedback form to submit comments and feedback at any time until the consultation closes. It is also possible to submit comments to FREEPOST NG NWCC or by email to
