Closed MMO’s Marine Planning Workshops and Call for Evidence

The North West Coastal Forum was pleased to help with delivery of the Marine Management Organisation’s Liverpool workshop, on 13th July. As well assisting with publicity before the event North West Coastal Forum Board member, John Entwistle, of Wirral Council, co-Chaired the event alongside Russell Gadbury, the MMO Marine Planning Manager, and Caroline Salthouse, who provides the secretariat for the North West Coastal Forum, facilitated during the workshop sessions. Several NWCF Board members also attended on the day to input their expertise.

The Liverpool workshop was one of a series of one-day workshops, including another in Kendal, which took place around England to support the MMO’s call for issues and supporting evidence for the new marine plan areas in the North West, South West, North East and South East of England. It was a good day, well attended by a wide range of different sectors with marine interests and a lot of lively discussion took place. The workshops in Liverpool and Kendal focused on highlighting the challenges, opportunities and needs of the North West Marine Plan area over the next 20 years and discussed how marine plans could address these by providing evidence and sharing ideas. A report on the workshops and issues and evidence gathered will be produced by the MMO later this year.

The Call for Evidence is open until Friday 5th August. See the separate article below for how to respond to this or click here
