Closed – consultation on Draft Flood Risk Management Plans

Consultation closes 31st January 2015 at 23:45 p.m.

The Environment Agency is seeking views on proposals to reduce flood risks to communities and deal with the impacts of flooding.

Draft plans have been produced for each River Basin District in England and the cross-border catchments of the Severn and Dee (developed jointly with Natural Resources Wales). The draft plan for the Solway Tweed River Basin District only includes the English sections; the Scottish Environment Protection Agency will run a separate consultation for the Scottish parts of the catchment (and other Scottish catchments) starting in December 2014.

The plans describe the risk of flooding from a range of sources including the sea, rivers, surface and groundwater. They set out how a range of organisations including the Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales, local authorities and water companies will work with local communities to manage flood risk.

The finalised plans will be published in December 2015 and will be used to investment and action from 2016 onwards.
