Closed – Challenges and Choices: River Basin Management Consultation

The Environment Agency has launched a consultation on how the water environment should be protected and improved for the benefit of communities, businesses and wildlife. The information gathered will be used to inform the second cycle of River Basin Management Plans which cover the period 2015 to 2021 and describe what businesses, water users and other organisations will need to do to protect and improve the water environment.

For more information and to take part in the consultation, which closes on 22nd December 2013, follow this link or attend one of the events the Agency will be running around the country.

The consultation document provides a review of the latest information on significant issues affecting the water environment at a local, river basin district and national level and asks for views on a specific issue such as pollution or river flows, or views on your local water environment or for England as a whole.

A Strategic Environmental Assessment will be carried out of each River Basin Management Plan and there is a parallel consultation on how the Agency should approach that task.
