Draft Biosecurity Plan – Marine Invasive Non-native Species in the Solway

The Solway Firth Partnership has produced a draft Biosecurity Plan for the Solway Firth. This follows a seminar on ‘Marine Invasive Non-Native Species (INNS) in the Solway’ last September brought together key stakeholders from around  the Solway to raise awareness of the potential impact of marine INNS and to look at possible ways of tackling them.  One of the key actions arising from this seminar was the need for a biosecurity plan for the Solway. The vision of the draft plan is ‘to establish a sustainable framework for preventing, detecting and controlling marine invasive non-native species within the Solway Firth Partnership area through appropriate management, data collection, liaison and education’. Consultation on the draft plan has now closed. For more information contact the Solway Firth Partnership.
