Celtic Array Limited – a joint venture between Centrica Renewable Energy Limited and DONG Energy – has been awarded exclusive rights to seek consent to build and operate offshore wind farms in the Irish Sea Zone.
Rhiannon Wind Farm (RWF) is the first offshore wind project proposal in the Irish Sea Zone. At its closest point, RWF would be located approximately 19km from Anglesey, 34km from the Isle of Man and 60km from the Cumbrian coast.
Before a consent application can be made, the proposal will go through a pre-application phase in line with the Planning Act 2008. Celtic Array intends to hold two stages of formal consultation during pre-application and the first stage is now underway.
The supporting documents and more information about the Stage 1 consultation for Rhiannon Wind Farm together with dates of Public Information Days (Wales and Isle of Man) can be found on this link.
The consultation will run until Thursday 20 December 2012.
