Closed – DEFRA Sustainability Indicators

Defra is developing a new set of sustainable development indicators to meet the Government’s commitments to transparency and sustainable development, and is carrying out an informal consultation for 12 weeks from 24th July 2012.

People are welcome to express their views on the proposals for a new set of sustainable development indicators.

Caroline Spelman (Secretary of State for DEFRA) explained their important role in monitoring UK progress:

“We want to help our economy, our communities and the environment to grow and flourish in a sustainable way for the benefit of future generations. We have put sustainability at the heart of everything [we do], and these new indicators will help us take stock of our progress and give the public the means to chart our success.”

The closing date for the consultation is on the 15th October 2012.
