Scotland’s National Marine Plan – Pre-consultation Draft

Marine Scotland and the Scottish Government have published a pre-consultation draft of Scotland’s National┬áMarine Plan.

The National Marine Plan is being created as part of the Scottish Government’s introduction of marine planning for Scotland’s Seas, after the introduction of the Marine (Scotland) Act 2010. The National Marine Plan will manage increasing demands for the use of┬áScotlands marine environment, encourage economic development of marine industries and incorporate environmental protection into marine decision making. It will also have a role to play in managing adaptation to climate change.

The Scottish Government are inviting comments on the pre-consultation draft until June 7 2011, to help develop a Draft National Marine Plan, which will be consulted on later in the year.
